Don Alfonso Boutique Hotel (NA)
In Sant’Agata, a small village in Massa Lubrense, Don Alfonso is a boutique hotel that completes the hospitality project of the restaurant of the same name, two Michelin stars, splendidly managed since 1973 by the Iaccarino family.
World icon of Neapolitan hospitality, the legend of Don Alfonso began in 1890 when Alfonso Iaccarino, just returned from America where he had gone to seek his fortune, returned to his country and created the Pensione Iaccarino, which soon became a point of reference on the Sorrento peninsula.
In 1973, his grandson Alfonso together with his wife Livia transformed the pension inherited from his grandfather into a renowned restaurant, the first in Southern Italy to receive 3 Michelin stars, which they soon added to a hotel, now managed together with his sons Ernesto, chef, and Mario, maitre d’ and hospitality director.
For us, traditions are the starting point for creating new ones and offering our guests the best of our region.
(Iaccarino Family)
Located in a 19th century building, the rooms are characterized by bright colors – pink, blue, yellow, orange – inspired by the flowers typical of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast and designed to be enhanced by the natural light of the Mediterranean sea.
There are 8 suites, including the original and romantic Casa del Poeta, the exclusive residence where the poet Salvatore Di Giacomo lived, all characterized by original 18th and 19th century furnishings from the Iaccarino family, bathrooms decorated with typical hand-painted Vietri majolica, and textile and design details in the characteristic pink color that has always distinguished Don Alfonso.
A pantone that recalls that of the wonderful bougainvillea of the coast; a bold choice that becomes an expression of the unique personality with which Don Alfonso has made and continues to make the history of Italy since 1890.
After a period of closure, the resort, part of the Relais & Châteaux association, reopened in April 2024 completely renovated in the name of total sustainability of all its processes, both energetic and in terms of consumption and recycling.
Among the new features, the restyling of the wonderful park, where the swimming pool is set among lemon groves, gazebos and flower gardens, surrounded by sunbeds with white and green arabesque umbrellas.
A magical place where you can enjoy an organic Mediterranean breakfast based on jams, tarts and typical preparations of the Campania tradition.
In addition to the Don Alfonso restaurant, a food and wine legend, the structure offers many other wonderful experiences to discover Massa Lubrense and the villages of which it is made up. Starting from the Don Alfonso 1890 Cooking School which teaches the secrets of Mediterranean cuisine, as well as various excursions and visits to nearby beauties.
Massa Lubrense is, in fact, located a few kilometers from Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi, representing a quiet and exclusive starting point for discovering one of the most beautiful sea coasts in the world.
The Secret
In the rooms and common areas of the hotel, you will notice some beautiful paintings in bright colors on the wall that tell the story of the lush nature of the Sorrento peninsula: this is one of the many passions in which Ernesto Iaccarino has always enjoyed himself.
