The iconic Grand Hotel in Sorrento, an Art Nouveau pearl with the marvelous “terrace overlooking the Gulf of Surriento” that inspired Lucio Dalla to write the song Caruso, opens its legendary Sala da Ballo Vittoria to the public for gourmet breakfasts overlooking the sea.

There are very few hotels on the Grand Tour that have retained the elegant and salon atmospheres of the 18th and 19th centuries, when the world aristocracy toured Europe, stopping in the most luxurious palaces of the time.

Aesthetes and connoisseurs of ancient arts will be thrilled by the classical busts on its terrace that invite you to admire the blue of the sea, or by the refined winter garden that, a rarity among rarities, preserves intact the beautiful wooden and rope chairs designed by Ernesto Basile and also exhibited at the Musée D’Orsay in Paris.

Or by the wonderful Sala Vittoria, a stunning 19th-century ballroom, the scene of the most beautiful parties of the Belle Époque, where breakfast is served just as it was done in the time of Princess Sissi, who was a regular at the hotel.

Here, every morning from 7:00 to 10:30, a real ritual takes place, which can also be booked by non-guests of the hotel. A feast of excellent Campania cuisine thanks to Executive Chef Antonino Montefusco who, together with his team, uses top-quality local ingredients, coming in particular from the Grand Hotel’s garden and from small producers in the area, to make every awakening unforgettable.

The Grand Hotel’s staff will welcome in white gloves pampering you among enormous windows overlooking the sea, a vaulted ceiling decorated with splendid frescoes, Vitulano marble (the same used by the famous architect Luigi Vanvitelli for the sumptuous “Salone di Onore” of the Royal Palace of Caserta), and elegant silverware.

Here, served buffet-style and à la carte, you will find a huge selection of sweet and leavened products prepared every morning according to the Campania tradition, egg-based dishes and selected savory recipes to discover the flavors and smells of the two coasts and the best Neapolitan tradition.

The Secret

The resort once consisted of four buildings: the fourth was damaged by the 1980 earthquake and the Fiorentino family’s dream of rebuilding it could soon come true.
