In Naples, overlooking the bay of Marechiaro, one of the most romantic places in Campania, is a fine trattoria where you can watch the moon reflecting on the sea of \u200b\u200bthe famous village while enjoying seafood cuisine that has stood out for its quality and splendid hospitality since 1942.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If in Naples “everything is poetry”<\/em>, the restaurant da Cicciotto a Marechiaro is certainly one of its most poetic corners. The trattoria was born in one of the most enchanting places in the city, in Marechiaro, a small fishing village <\/strong>in Posillipo<\/strong>, much loved by the ancient Romans and the protagonist of many famous songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, before sitting down to eat at Cicciotto, a short walk along the sea to the famous Fenestella<\/strong> (in Italian, little window) is a must. Here, the story goes that the Neapolitan poet and writer Salvatore Di Giacomo<\/strong>, admiring a small window with a carnation flower resting on the sill, was inspired to write the verses of Marechiare<\/em> that gave life to one of the most famous Neapolitan songs.<\/p>\n\n\n

Originally Cicciotto was a winery<\/strong> where wine was produced and fresh fish <\/strong>from the village fishermen was offered, a tradition still carried on today, opened in 1942<\/strong> by Vincenzo Capuano<\/strong>, known as \u201cCicciotto\u201d for his physicality, who cooked for his guests with the same \u201cpoetry\u201d with which a maestro would compose his verses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the 1960s<\/strong>, Cicciotto became one of the symbols of the Dolce Vita<\/strong>, and its proposal was increasingly refined until it became a bastion of the best Campania fish cuisine under the management of his son Giovanni Capuano<\/strong>, together with his wife Maria<\/strong>, and today with his grandchildren Gianluca<\/strong> and Vincenzo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

What will never change at Cicciotto is the extraordinary and warm hospitality, the exceptional quality<\/strong> of the fish, and the wonderful panorama<\/strong> of the entire city of Naples, from Vesuvius to Capri island. A view that can be enjoyed all winter long, thanks to the heated outdoor area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As can be seen from the large \u201cshowcase\u201d of fish at the entrance that resembles the stalls of a fishmonger where the guest can choose what they will taste later on, the restaurant has always been renowned for its raw<\/strong> and grilled<\/strong> fish<\/strong>, seafood<\/strong>, inimitable fritters, octopus soppressat<\/em>a, and specialties such as Schiaffoni<\/em> pasta with lobster and Crab Linguine<\/em> pasta.<\/p>\n\n\n

On the drink list<\/strong>, we find many white wines, bubbles, Champagne and a selection of great labels from all over Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few meters from the restaurant, Cicciotto has also opened a pizzeria to enjoy the same view for a more informal dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n

The venue is located in a limited traffic area and offers a convenient shuttle service<\/strong> that takes you from the parking lot located higher up the hill to the restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the road that leads from the center of Naples towards Posillipo, do not miss to stop at the Terrazza di Sant\u2019Antonio. Here you can admire the most famous \u201cpostcard\u201d Naples with the beauty of Vesuvius that stands out on the Gulf, its two castles, Castel Sant\u2019Elmo and Castel dell\u2019Ovo, and the embrace of the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n
