Ristorante Luce

A new address in Capri that celebrates Italian cuisine, authenticity, and lifestyle

by Lavinia Colonna Preti

Near the famous Piazzetta, Luce is Capri’s new Dolce Vita address on the island, dedicated to the finest Italian cuisine and an authentic welcome that evokes a sense of home, warmth, and conviviality.

Luce was born from the idea of two entrepreneurs who know a thing or two about Italian Dolce Vita: Ferruccio De Lorenzo and Luigi Esposito. The former is a Neapolitan who fell in love with Capri, already a partner in many successful international restaurants, and the latter is a native of the island and the beloved owner of the 5-star Hotel La Minerva.

Beyond friendship, Ferruccio and Luigi share a passion for food and hospitality. After years of shared dreams, this passion came to fruition in the summer of 2025 with the opening of Luce, a place where, above all, they themselves should feel at home with their guests.

We created Luce to make us feel at home, an act of love towards Capri and its long tradition of hospitality, sociability and authentic emotions.

The restaurant’s decor was developed in collaboration with interior designer Caterina Bartolozzi to evoke the feel of a traditional Capri residence, featuring warm, bright tones with terracotta accents in both color and texture.

The spaces are inspired by the atmosphere of the Amalfi Coast and embellished with refined details, such as the striking Poliedri chandelier by Venini at the entrance, prints and paintings featuring the symbols of Capri, comfortable upholstered seating, Umarell lamps by Karman, touches of Vietri ceramic, and custom-made wallpaper reminiscent of the sea.

For the dining room, Ferruccio and Luigi have chosen professionals from leading international and Italian establishments, such as Cipriani, with the kitchen led by executive chef Salvatore De Vivo, who has several Michelin-starred experiences under his belt.

The menu is inspired by Campania and Italian traditions, with an essential focus on excellence, freshness, and seasonality of ingredients, and dishes that tell stories of love for Capri and the Amalfi Coast.

The protagonist, on this culinary journey, is a timeless classic: Spaghetti al Pomodoro, accompanied by a new, must-try reinterpretation, Spaghetti al Pomodoro Luce Style, as well as great classics like eggplant parmigiana, linguine alla Nerano, and the freshest fish cooked in salt.

The charming cellar, located in a small natural cave in the restaurant’s basement, is personally curated by Ferruccio, where he preserves over 200 labels of great Campanian and international wines, particularly his private collection of red wines.

Meanwhile, the American bar serves excellent cocktails, such as the Limoncello Spritz and the Luce Capri, made with pink peppercorn vodka, Campari, lemon juice, and fig syrup.

Open daily for lunch and dinner, Luce has already become a new “star” in Capri’s magnificent social scene.

The Secret

No less than four varieties of tomato are used for the spaghetti with tomato sauce and, in a ritual performed strictly at the table, it is served with grated fresh citron to enhance the sauce and cacioricotta cheese.
